The great thing about fashion week is that you can bounce from a full on runway show to an artist presenation. Presentations offer the chance to see the pieces up close and personal. It allows the designer to get creative on how best to show off their latest collections. Check out the latest SS 2013 collection from Mathieu Mirano.

2012 Harold Burson Summer Internship Program -Yes a paid summer internship

I got this email and I thought I would pass it along. A good internship is often hard to come by so if you can find a good one you are in luck. This internship is with Burson -Marsteller over the summer.  Just from reading over the details and looking at the tour this is a great opportunity to gain some hands on experience, be in one of the US offices, and be paid for your efforts. Plus the internship is open to graduate students and seniors.

The deadline date for the 2012 U.S Harold Burson Summer Internship Program is next Friday, February 17th

Information on the Burson Internship

The HBSI Program is instrumental in identifying and acquiring the best and brightest young talent.   The Harold Burson Summer Internship (HBSI) Program is a paid internship at one of the U.S. Burson-Marsteller offices. Each intern is assigned to a client team or practice group. During the internship, students work closely with experienced industry professionals. HBSI interns are given the opportunity to work as a team member, while gaining valuable work experience. Colleagues from different specialty areas of Burson-Marsteller conduct seminars for interns each week. Interns are also grouped into teams where they work on a special HBSI project, which they present to a senior management panel for review at the conclusion of the internship. The summer internship offers an invaluable career-development experience that can often lead to an employment opportunity with us after graduation. Information regarding detailed application requirements and FAQs can be found directly on the B-M Global Website,

@2chainz performs to sold out crowd at SOBs

Last night rapper 2 Chainz performed to a sold out crowed at SOBs in New York. 2 Chainz performed cuts from his mixtape “True Religion” and his verses from several of his features including Superfreak with Young Jeezy and Dufflebag Boy with Lil Wayne. The crowd was hype and 2 Chainz was really appreciative of the support that he as an Atlanta rapper was being shown in NYC [the Mecca of hip hop]
Opening the show was newcomer Marcus Manchild along side Houston natives Paul Wall and Slim Thug.
At the end of the night the crowd was treated to a pleasant surprise when hip hop legend Raekwon took to the stage to congratulate 2 Chainz on his success and officially let him know that he was “good” in NYC.

This concert definitely reminded me how hectic entertainment PR can be. From getting the artist to the venue on time, fueling the media interview request, making sure items on the rider are provided, making sure photographers get their shoots, and the list goes. When all of these forces come together it makes for a great show.

A Celebration of Life | Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2012

As we celebrate the life and times of Martin Luther King Jr. it’s always good to do a little refresher course on why this civilian man has a national holiday. Use this day to learn a something about this man, this Nobel Peace prize winner. Often times the history books don’t tell the full story. A quick Google search can provide you with a wealth of knowledge.

[WATCH]

This is just a snippet of the speech that was given before he was assassinated.

[READ]

You may also want to find a copy of  his book Stride toward Freedom

Or this one that I have

Take the time out to read

Whatever you do today just take the time learn a little more about Dr. King and his impact that is still felt today. I know that some use Martin Luther King Jr Day as a day of service, which I think is a good idea.  So you can go out and volunteer your time somewhere, find someway to give back.

VIVMagnificent Woman Shop For A Cause | Honors @KHanson_Jewelry & @melaniefiona

Last night VIV Mag held their passport to luxury series at Bally Flagship store on Madison Ave.  They honored singer Melanie Fiona and designer  Kristin Hanson with the VIVMagnificent Woman Humanitarian for their philanthropic endeavors.  Publisher Jocelyn Taylor was on hand to present the honorees with their awards.  This event was not only to honor these two women but to raise funds for Aksyon Haitian/American arts, fashion and design foundation. Guest were treated to cocktails sponsored by the new Courvoisier Rose’ and the night’s food was catered by Haitian cater Nadege Fleurimond,  of Fleurimond Catering, Inc.

Chairman of VIV Mag as well as one of the people responsible for Fiji water

VIVMag is a bi-monthly 100% digital interactive lifestyle/luxury magazine targeting women which offers insight, advice and authentic stories to inspire and motivate women in their quest for a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

PR Sidenote:  My little PR sidenote for this event is that next time Courvoisier should either do a darker shade of pink for their logo the step and repeat  or go with a black step and repeat banner. It was a little hard to see the logo.

Networking tip: Open bar events don’t drink too much. Events sponsored by magazines offers great opportunities to meet with editors, publishers, and photographers. Always bring enough business cards or if you are going the paperless route make sure your phone is well charged so you can exchange information that way.

Target and Harlem’s Fashion Row Honors Tyson Beckford Donna Williams and June Ambrose

I attended the Harlem Fashion Row S/S 2012 showing at the Jazz Lincoln Center Par 7 Vodka, Target and Harlem Fashion Row honored model Tyson Beckford, celebrity stylist June Ambrose and Metropolitan Museum of Art Chief Audience Development Officer Donna Williams for their career achievements and influences on the younger generations of artists, designers and moguls-in-the-making . Watching these individuals be introduced and give their acceptance speech was very inspiring.  Par 7 Vodka provided guests and honorees “Target-Tinis” which was a sensational combination of Par 7 Vodka and Jim Beam’s JOHN DEKUYPER & SONS O3® PREMIUM ORANGE LIQUEUR.

After the awards portion and cocktail hour guest were ushered into the auditorium to watch the fashion presentation on several young designers. The theme of the show was “Beautifully out of place” included S/S 2012  designs from Onyenauchea Nwabuzor,  Joseph Bethune, Kellia Rogers, and Jakia Handy. I loved the production of the show as well as the collections from all the designers. They are each truly talented. Plus having the chance to showcase their collections in front of the likes of June Ambrose, Tyson Beckford, Bethann Hardison Editor at Large of Vogue Italia must have been an amazing feeling for the designers.

About Billionaire Girls Club and Love & Labels:

Billionaire Girls Club was founded by stylist, Victoria Paul, in Long Island, NY  in April 2006, as a knitwear and vintage tee clothing company. Love & Labels was later introduced to offer contemporary and couture closet staples to carry consumers from season to season. Think….the grunge, grime and glamour from 90s fashion brought back with vengeance. L & L’s faux-fur coats, battered boots, and shredded explicit T-Shirts have a more sophisticated edge. BGC for Love & Labels apparel can best be described as a modern lifestyle brand for the new generation.

Food the Foodies | A Collection of Treats and Eats

When your good friend and client is a foodie (@urban_foodie14) you tend to pick up on a few things. I have a new found appreciation.  So I share with you my foodie finds. Enjoy.

Chicken Tacos from The Taco Truck the habanero is no joking matter

The Taco Truck, brings  authentic Mexican street food. They actually have a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Hoboken New Jersey.  I caught this truck on 30th st and 10th ave in NYC.

The who and what of Coolhaus

The perfect treat for a summer day. Find out where the Coolhaus truck is parked and a pick yourself an ice cream sandwich. They also have sherbert if thats your ting. Oh and they even have vegan options.

coolhaus ice cream sandwiches, left peanut butter cookie w/espresso ice cream, right double chocolate cookie w/apple pie ice cream

New Orleans Salmon and Dirty Rice

My first time at Joe’s Crabshack. I played it safe with the New Orleans Salmon dish.  Salmon Orleans sauce had shrimp, crawfish, and andouille sausage. Served with dirty rice.

The classic sampler from Joe’s Crabshack. Jalapeno, shrimp and crab balls,  Nachos with crab dip & Calamari.

Chicken and Penne Pasta

My moms Mother’s Day meal at Tops Diner.  She likes the familiar so I take her where she can get what she likes.  Chicken and penne pasta with vodka sauce.

Chocolate Cheesecake

This Tops Diner cheesecake is large and in charge. Layers of goodness. It’s a really good chocolate cheesecake and one slice and be shared with two people.

Sante Fe spinach wrap w/seasonal fruit

In an attempt to eat healthy. Sante Fe spanish wrap offers brown rice, beans, grilled chicken and cheese. You can skip the fries and get fruit instead. You can also opt out of cheese if you like.

Please know I’m not a professional foodie, I just consult one.
