All-Black Affair to celebrate the official website launch of KinkyCurlyCoilyMe.com

Nothing naturals love more than mixing and mingling with one another. So when I had the chance to attend the All-Black Affair to celebrate the official website launch of KinkyCurlyCoilyMe.com I could not pass it up. It was also a celebration of Jenell’s Two Year Naturalversary! Naturals came dressed in their stylish all-black ensembles to enjoy themselves and take part in raffles to win some pretty cool natural hair items. Nothing naturals love more than tried and true products. Of course no event is complete without gift bags. Gift bags offer the opportunity to sample a product before you go out and buy the full size. Thumbs up to Jenell and crew for bringing out the naturals for a fun celebration.

@CurlyNikki 3rd Anniversary Party sponsored by @MizaniUSA

Group shot of Curly Nikki and the Mizani crew

This past Thursday natural hair blogger Curly Nikki held her blogs three-year anniversary party at the Carlton Hotel in NYC. The venue was packed with naturals eager to chat, meet, and see some the of the new product line being offered by Mizani. For those in the natural hair community meetups are a pretty common occurrence and are lots of fun. For Mizani to tap into that is a good idea since their new line “True Textures”  is geared towards natural curls. This event was a good look at blogger relations, utilizing influencers,  and product placement. Of course attendees were given samples of the new line to take home and try. My only thing with the samples that often come in swagbags is the samples are too small. When giving samples to women with natural hair you have to realize we have alot of hair and a little .34oz  isn’t going to provide the best sample of your product and make us want to go out and but it. I think I better option would be to either increase the sample size for natural hair events, add more than one sample to the bags, or just provide coupons for the product so it could be purchased at a later date.

Note to my natural haired ladies: If you’ve never attended a natural hair event find one and go, its a fun time and great bonding.

Under 30 CEO Social Media Week Meet Up

This years as part of Social Media Week NYC I attended the Under 30 CEO Meet up at McAnns. Twitter was all a buzz over the various hashtags from #smw11, #smwnyc, and  #under30ceo

I have to say being surrounded by so many entrepreneurs was great. There was such an energy in the room.  Everyone had the opportunity to do a 3o second pitch and say what you were working on or what you were looking for related to your business. We even had one attendee who had office space available. He was a big hit that night.

We had another attendee come from Connecticut just to be part of the Under 30 Ceo Meetup, so that lets you know the draw of social media week and Under 30 CEO . The concept of Under 30 Ceo is so great and fuels the entrepreneurial spirit of so many. Of course with this being social media week not only were we engaging face to face but tweeting and facebooking about the event. As well as sending those friend and follow request. There was the discussion on how as young CEOs we use social media to compete with larger companies. How can we put ourselves out there and reach our consumers.

And of course no meetup is complete without exchanging business cards. I’m glad I brought enough, I feared I would run out.

But I have to say the first stop on Social Media Week NYC was a good one. I think I made some really good connections, which is a plus.
