New York Fashion Week: Mathieu Mirano SS2013

The great thing about fashion week is that you can bounce from a full on runway show to an artist presenation. Presentations offer the chance to see the pieces up close and personal. It allows the designer to get creative on how best to show off their latest collections. Check out the latest SS 2013 collection from Mathieu Mirano.

New York Fashion Week: Rolando Santana

On Monday night Rolando Santana’s SS 2013 collection hit the runway. His collection featured various shades of blues and greens along with touches of coral. The collection featured very feminine pieces which can be expected from spring collections. As the models worked the runway the collection evolved from ready to wear to red carpet ready. Rolando also collaborated with Manolo Blanik who debuted two shoes on the runway.
The final walk showcased all the models walking the runway in the same dress but in different hues. A simple change in color showcased the beauty of a Rolando Santana dress.

All-Black Affair to celebrate the official website launch of KinkyCurlyCoilyMe.com

Nothing naturals love more than mixing and mingling with one another. So when I had the chance to attend the All-Black Affair to celebrate the official website launch of KinkyCurlyCoilyMe.com I could not pass it up. It was also a celebration of Jenell’s Two Year Naturalversary! Naturals came dressed in their stylish all-black ensembles to enjoy themselves and take part in raffles to win some pretty cool natural hair items. Nothing naturals love more than tried and true products. Of course no event is complete without gift bags. Gift bags offer the opportunity to sample a product before you go out and buy the full size. Thumbs up to Jenell and crew for bringing out the naturals for a fun celebration.

What’s all the buzz about Pinterest | How to use Pinterest

Pinterest Logo

I’m sure by now you have been hearing about the new platform Pinterest. I’ll admit I haven’t started “pinning” yet.  I mean  Pinterest soft launched about  two years ago but joining is by invitation only. I do follow them on Twitter, so that allows me to see whats going on and how things are developing. There are of course early adapters who are on the Pinterest craze since the soft launch. I heard about Pinterest maybe a month or two ago, and from what I was reading and hearing I knew it would be a matter of time before it spread like wildfire. This week alone I have received email after email trying to teach me how to use Pinterest, telling me what Pinterest is about, and even  an invitation to check out a webinar to see how others are using Pinterest.  This is why its important to read the trade publications that way you can be kept abreast the ever changing industry and social landscape.

I’m thinking its time I send out for an invitation, don’t you? Though a part of my brain is scream “no another social media platform.” But this means this is another medium that I can bring to clients or potential clients and teach them how to use.  When new media emerges it doest hurt to learn about them to see how they can be beneficial. I also read that Pinterest can boost your SEO, that further peaked my interest.  I do suggest that you take the time to check the site and see what all the hype is about  before committing to a new social media platform.

A few helpful tips

“Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web.  Browsing pin boards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.” -Pinterest

Top interests on Pinterest in the U.S.: crafts, gifts, hobbies/leisure, interior design, fashion designers/collections. (via Ragan.com)

“Pinterest is designed to curate and share things you love. If there is a photo or project your proud of, pin away! However, try not to use Pinterest purely as a tool for self-promotion.” -Pinterest

According to comScore (via TechCrunch), the average Pinterest user spends 98 minutes per month on the site, compared to 2.5 hours on Tumblr, and seven hours on Facebook.

Will you be “pinning” anytime soon? Are you already on Pinterest, what do you love about it?

2012 Harold Burson Summer Internship Program -Yes a paid summer internship

I got this email and I thought I would pass it along. A good internship is often hard to come by so if you can find a good one you are in luck. This internship is with Burson -Marsteller over the summer.  Just from reading over the details and looking at the tour this is a great opportunity to gain some hands on experience, be in one of the US offices, and be paid for your efforts. Plus the internship is open to graduate students and seniors.

The deadline date for the 2012 U.S Harold Burson Summer Internship Program is next Friday, February 17th

Information on the Burson Internship

The HBSI Program is instrumental in identifying and acquiring the best and brightest young talent.   The Harold Burson Summer Internship (HBSI) Program is a paid internship at one of the U.S. Burson-Marsteller offices. Each intern is assigned to a client team or practice group. During the internship, students work closely with experienced industry professionals. HBSI interns are given the opportunity to work as a team member, while gaining valuable work experience. Colleagues from different specialty areas of Burson-Marsteller conduct seminars for interns each week. Interns are also grouped into teams where they work on a special HBSI project, which they present to a senior management panel for review at the conclusion of the internship. The summer internship offers an invaluable career-development experience that can often lead to an employment opportunity with us after graduation. Information regarding detailed application requirements and FAQs can be found directly on the B-M Global Website,
