Brooklyn’s newest hot spot, Brooklyn Swirl

Brooklyn’s newest hot spot is the Brooklyn Swirl, where they are serving up mouth-watering flavors like Kiwi Strawberry, Peanut Butter and Red Velvet. This weekend they invited the neighborhood out to sample some treats.

The event was hosted by Pynk Magazine, Blue Magazine, and  Stuff Fly People Like.

I had the Kiwi Strawberry with Mango blend which  provided a much-needed cooling from Saturday’s sun. Brooklyn Swirl not only serves tasty cool treats, their space is also home to monthly movie and poetry nights. There is also an outdoor patio where you can sit and people watch.

If you are in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by Brooklyn Swirl.  Brooklyn Swirl is at 445 Marcus Garvey.

Fashion Week Day 5 Sept 14th

On Tuesday I hit another fashion with my client ( and we did some interviews with the designer, models, and sponsor.

The Kissed by Rain Spring/ Summer 2011 Presentation was at the Openhouse Gallery on Mulberry Street. Nice venue, two floors complete with your deserts, snacks, swag bag, t-shirt giveaway pretty cool.

And once again as I’ve mentioned countless times during fashion week you will more than likely bump into the same people. So it’s a networkers paradise. For example, the event coordinator for the event is one of my twitter followers so it was good to finally meet her we event interviewed her. The jewelry that was worn during the fashion show was done by Pink Velvet who I originally met at the WEEN awards and who also participated in Fashion’s Night Out at the same location my client (Victoria Kennedy) did.

When you see familiar faces its always good to say HI and make a little conversation.  I have to say Fashion Week really brings a lot of people together. I’ve definitely enjoyed it.

Where to start? I think Im in love with Fashion Week

I really like this bag

New York City Fashion week is moving full pace I am trying to keep up. Let me give you a run down

Sept 9th The Laureluxe Red Carpet Fashion show

Sept 10th FNO @ the Wagon

Sept 10th Cover Girl Event

Sept 11th Jose Ducan Show

Sept 11th Stevi Boi Show

Sept 12th FSL Cosmetics and B.Atrise Show

Sept 13th Triple Fat Goose Show

Sept 13th Sabit Show

Sept 16th Jeantrix show

Whew that’s a lot and as you can see there are days where there are two event and I try to make it to both. Also lets not forget I still have my full-time 9-5 plus other things that I have to do for my clients. Now I don’t only go to these events for the Fashion but to meet the media that is covering these events and build relationships with them.

One of the things I was most excited for  was this past Friday my client was able to attend and cover the COVER GIRLS FOR CHANGE: NYC MODELS REUNION AND CHARITY EVENT for Red Light Children. They did a few great interviews and met some great people. It’s always good when you can land something that falls right into what your client wants.

Below are some pictures from Fashion’s Night Out at The Wagon we had a special performance by Jussie Smollett ( it was a pleasure working with his PR team I must say)

From Fashion’s Night Out to New York Fashion Week 2010

Fashion Week has hit New York City and I am happy to be a part of it as a publicist. So many people have descended upon NYC that this is definitely a week to be seen and build new connections and/or rebuild the ones that you have. This time last year I was an outsider looking in trying to find out the who, what, when and where so I could go to some fashions shows, events and meet some new people.

This Fashion Week has been a reflective one for me because it really shows what difference as year can make.

For instance last year for Fashion’s Night Out in New York I was with my one of  my friends hopping across the city at the various shops. This year I was at The Wagon in Brooklyn since my client (Victoria Kennedy) was showcasing some of her designs.

This year I was able to get invited to a few fashions shows, research some shows that I wanted to get my client to cover for her site. I am still working towards the day when I can get my clients to attend and cover under the tents for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Shows at Lincoln Center.

My calender is quite full with event. I went to the LaueLuxe Fashion show at the Gate. Loved designs what she does with metal jewlery is unique and very stylish.  I will also be attending the Jose Duran show, Stevie Boi, FSL cosmetic event, Sabit Fashion show, Triple Fat Goose and the list goes on. I think I should have moved to New York for the month of September.

There is still a lot that I want to do and need to learn this is know but I have to look and see that I have made some strides and I do have somethings to be happy and proud about.

Another thing that I’ve realized is that Fashion Week provides the great opportunity to network and meet some cool people. No matter the event if you just take a few minutes to talk up some people you can make some great friends and contact. I mean you already have one thing in common fashion.

When Fashion week is over I will have to do a recap and post some pictures. I’ll try to  before then though.
