GMHC Fashion Forward Hosted by @TraceeEllisRoss @mrbradgoreski | Will there be a Girlfriends movie?

Bank of America presents GMHC Fashion Forward 2011 featuring top designer looks from Chris Benz, Thom Browne, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marlon Gobel, Sally LaPointe,
Zang Toi, Timo Weiland, VPL

Last night Tracee Ellis Ross and Brad Goreski hosted the 2011 GMHC Fashion Forward show at the Metropolitan Pavilion. As a second year attendee I have to say the show was awesome. Tracee and Brad did a wonderful job hosting. Tracee as you know is an actress she starred “Girlfriends” and has a new show “Reed Between the Lines” on BET.  She is also the daughter of Diana Ross.  Brad Goreski who you may all know from the Rachel Zone Project has his own reality series coming “It’s a Brad Brad World” premiering on January 2, 2012 at 10pm on Bravo. Be sure to check out these two new shows. Now back to the event. The main thing about Fashion Forward was that a lot of money was raised for GMHC and their HIV/AID outreach. The money is put to good use. They recently renovated their facility as well to better support the community.

The event started with a cocktail reception & luxury silent auction filled with items from Buckler, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, AIX Armani Exchange fashion, Bulgari watches, Roxanne M. and more. They were also painting and posters which I thought was a good additional touch. There were also live models taking part in the auction showing off the clothes. Prior to the show there was a live action featuring vacation packages to France, Brazil, and Sweden. Can’t forget to mention that the event was sponsored by Bank of America, Delta, ABC-7, and The Eventi Hotel. Drinks were courtesy of the Vodka brand 42 below. After drinks, auctions and of course networking it was time for the fashion show. It was indeed an awesome show. A little backstage note Thom Browne and Jean Paul Gaultier used Mixx for their male models nails. They are the only two. The inaugural Style Vault award was presented to Julie Macklowe.

Did I mention that I interviewed Tracee Ellis Ross? Well I did

I asked about the rumor of a “Girlfriends” movie – ” Apparently there are people who want it” ” I would be happy to do it”

“Haven’t heard anything concrete” {Tracee has to know that people want that movie to happen and I hope it happens I loved Girlfriends}

On supporting GMHC – “They (GMHC) supports all those that are affected by HIV/AIDS.” “African-American women, are the highest numbers effected, {they} need the support and help”

On her new Show Reed Between the Lines “I play a happily married feminist” ” A show everyone can watch” On her return to the small screen ” I love being on TV” “Its been eight years since Girlfriends” Is there too much reality TV out there? “There is space for a family show on television”

That is how my evening went, hope you felt like you were there too.
