RECAP: Third Annual Women In Entertainment Empowerment Network Awards

Last night I went to the 3rd  Annual Ween Awards at the Samsung Experience. I attended last year and was able to get my then client media access. Which I think was the first event that I was able to get them to cover. I was just as excited as there was. One thing I notice about event though is some of the media people there don’t even know the people who are walking the carpet. I’m serious on any given event you can as a photographer, blogger, reporter who is that and they will tell you they don’t know. All they do know is that they need to be interviewing that person or taking their picture. All it takes is a little research.

Now on the Awards.

This year the WEEN Awards were hosted by Alesha Renee,  sponsored by Hennessy and honored the following ladies

Singer Estelle Darlings – received the international empowerment award for her work in London

Singer Keri Hilson – honored for her work with various charities and lending her voice to the 25 ‘We are the World” to raise money for Haiti

Philanthropist Tracy Wilson Mourning – wife of NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning creator of the Honey Shine Mentoring Program

National TV/Radio Personality; Egypt Sherrod – received her award for her work  charities and her own “Egypt’s Give Back Tour”

All of these women have worked to make an impact in one way or another. Be it in their respective field or giving back to their community. The WEEN Awards showed the positives that are being done by women in the industry. Helping to debunk the myth that women don’t work well together.  It was a night filled cheers and congratulations. It also offered a great opportunity to network. You had lawyers, teachers, publicist, brand managers etc in one place. The Samsung was filled with talent. There was of course fashionistas present wearing some very chic outfits. Picked up a few style cues.  Enjoy the pictures. Great job WEEN see you next year.

When you get the chance visit to learn more about WEEN.

Happy Flying,
