Telling your Client NO

Sometimes you just have to tell your clients no. I am learning this now. As a publicist you play many roles and can wear many hats but at the end of the day you are a publicist. Not a manager or a personal assistance or intern. You are there to do a job and you have to get it done. This is why communication is IMPORTANT.  If there are things that you just don’t agree with or that your client should be the one taking care of then let them know. Find a way to make them understand. If it comes to something that is contract related make sure to go over and see if that additional service can be added to the contact.  if it is something that you may have a moral problem with like your client wants you to lie or cover up. Then speak up do not suffer in silence because that will only lead to resentment.

I know we can all get caught up in the money that we want to make or the dream that our client has but we have to make sure that we don’t lose ourselves in the process. You have to be true to yourself.  Sometime you have to just say NO stick to it and mean it.

Happy Flying,
