Why: To save Strengthen Our Sisters Women’s Shelters

Ringwood, New Jersey– This past Sunday the lives of the women and children who live at Strengthen Our Sisters domestic violence shelters were positively impacted by the kindness and generosity of  so many.  The fundraiser event World Peace Begins At Home brought some top names to help raise money to keep these shelters from closing. Raising in up wards of $10,000 for these shelter who desperately need it. Style Network cameras started filming early in the day as the women of the shelter were made over with the help of Celebrity Hair Stylist Eric Alt , Celebrity Makeup Artist and star of the show Real Beauty Real Women, Jacqui Phillips, Alexa Prisco from the show Jerseylicious  along with her Glam Fairies, the ladies of Hello Gorgeous Salon, and styles donated by Jacquelyne Joyah Incorporated these women were transformed to show exactly how beautiful they are on the inside and out.

TV & ESPN personality Ashlee Ray co-hosted this event alongside event creator Jacquelyn Aluotto .  This event was complete with a going raffle and silent auction of various items from Black Berry phones to Geneva watches and even sport items such as signed golf memorabilia, signed  Phil Hughes Yankee jersey, Giants Pre- Season Tickets, spa packages from The Galaxy’s Red Carpet Spa and so much more. The main focus of this event was to raise funds and promote awareness speaker Danielle Staub from Real Housewives of New Jersey spoke of her past as a domestic violence survivor and encouraged the women to know that they are not alone. Speaker Carolyn Ortiz also spoke her domestic violence past which started in her teen years. Everyone was moved to tears as these women recounted their stories and showed that they are no longer victims but survivors. After the speakers the main event the fashion show.

Women from the shelter showcased their new looks with a fashion show with MC Ms. Glam Fairy herself Alexa Prisco from the show Jerseylicious. From hair to make-up to new outfits the women shined Danielle Staub daughter Christine showed the women how to walk. Attendees were taught some self-defense moves from Toni Geiger the #1 ranked female judo athlete in the U.S.A. and a member of Team USA 2010. The event was made complete by the songs of inspirations sung by the shelters Goddess Gospel Choir. World Peace Begins at Home set out to accomplish a goal

The socially conscious actress then started to realize that she could make a difference in the world through the use of film. With a never say quit attitude and the belief that any individual can help to change the world for the better, the actress decided to become a filmmaker. Pick It Up!
